He lived in Ponce until he departed to New York in June 1978 at the age of 14. It was this passion that took him to become a New York City FDNY Paramedic working the rough streets of New York.

The ceremony took place in Ponce’s city hall and was represented by Carlos' aunts Felita, Tere, and uncle Herminio Rodriguez. They were honor and humble to be partakers of this ceremony to honor their nephew and to see Ponce recognize one of their heroes.
